A New Kind of Fight

We've reached a new point in my kids' fighting.  Not sure if it's a new low point or a new high point, but get this.  Today their choice of ways to fight was a "Hug War".  Yes, a "Hug War".  How can something so lovely as a hug be paired with the word "war"?  Well, it's pretty easy 'round these parts.

A "Hug War" is where you wrap your arms around your opponent and squeeze as hard as you physically can...all while your mom yells at you to make sure you and your brother don't accidentally break the glass in the door.

And then they stopped just as quickly as they'd started, all giggles and smiles.

I think I like this new kind of fight.

The Super Duper Never-Ending Hug

I feel pretty darn lucky that my kids, at fifteen and nineteen, are still super snuggly.  While a lot of hugs are motivated by their wanting me to cook something or to prove HOW MUCH BIGGER they are than their wee little mom, sometimes hugs are purely about love.

Or so I thought last night until the hug went on just a little too long (not that I'm complaining).

Me:  "Are you playing a video game while you're hugging me?"

Little guy:  "Yup."

And that hug kept going and going.  Bliss...

Love in da House

One of my favorite things about summer is that I'm around to see so much more.  And one super sweet moment just happened.  Tommy, our kitten cuten was asleep on our bed.  Hazel, our 85 pounds of pure love dog was, too.  My little guy came in, carefully picked up Tommy and lay him atop Hazel, and then leaned into them giving them both a big hug.

Little guy:  "So much adorable packed into one hug!"

Love!
