Adorned with Love

I have clear teenage memories of hugging a cow at the base of the Alps and having an incredible connection and being filled with so much love. I imagine that were I a cow who got to live out my days blissfully eating grass and laying around under a big shade tree that I would be incredibly honored to have my skull painted when I no longer roamed the Earth.

Crooked Smile

The little guy is gonna get something tomorrow that I always wanted as a kid.  It seemed like all the cool kids were getting them...alas, it was not in the cards for my young teenage self.  While I had bad hair, bad skin, ugly glasses, and a terrible sense of style, I had naturally straight teeth.

Well, tomorrow the little guy, who has great hair, reasonably good skin, contact lenses, a great sense of easy-going style, and crooked teeth with a funny bite, gets braces.

Unfortunately my excitement for him has not proven to be contagious.

I Got Zapped!

Static electricity drives me a little nuts.  It's not my friend.

It makes my skirts get up all in my business.

It makes me accidentally shock my wee little students.

And it makes it nearly impossible to walk through Costco with a cart without a zap every ten steps or so.

It's a problem.

So the last time I was at the gym I started feeling the slight raise of the hairs on my arms as I walked briskly on a treadmill.  And then I felt the hair on my scalp shift just a bit.  And then my husband came up behind me and touched my thigh...and ZAP!!!!!!

I almost wiped out...at 3.6 miles per hour.

Nope.  Not a fan of static electricity.

I love science!

My husband is very helpful.  Really it is.  Only sometimes I don't really want his help even if I need it.  Like last night.  I had the hiccups, you see.

So I'm going about my business, not liking the hiccups, but not totally being irritated by them either.  I was trying to make a small dent in the HUGE pile of laundry on our bed when..."BLAAAAAAGGAAAABAAAA!!!!"  Dave scared the living tar out of me.  And I slapped him silly as is my uncontrollable instinct...Whap!  Slap!  Whap-a-slap!

...and then I hiccuped.

So about thirty minutes later, when I was still hiccuping, I put on my jammies determined to go to sleep, hiccups or not.  And then "Wham!"  I was body slammed flat.

Dave:  "Wrestling gets rid of hiccups.  It's scientifically proven."

And about one minute later after hopefully not causing Dave any permanent damage as I fought back against my assailant...my hiccups were gone.

I love science!
