Out on the Town

Continuing my Phyllis, the wonder chicken, theme...

Certainly Phyllis does not stay in the chicken yard all day long. No way. She's way too sophisticated for such things. No, I'm quite sure that my wonder girl puts a bow in her hair, grabs her purse, and heads out to do some shopping. Now Phyllis is a practical girl, of course, so that amazing chicken of mine is surely hitting all the best thrift stores South Austin has to offer.

Targeted

I let our dogs out in the back yard. They love it out there. There's chickens to look at, a chain link fence to see the front yard, and a fabulous deck to jump off of. It's small, but they love it.

But this time they were barking like crazy. And they would. not. stop. So I got up to see what all the ruckus was about and, by golly, there was something in the yard next door. Something unfamiliar. Something threatening. Something downright wrong.

It was the scariest archery target EVER!

Yup, my amazing guard dogs were targeting the target. Bull's eye!

Love my girls....

Officially "Vintage"

Spent a lovely day celebrating birthdays with my mom today.  We ate good grub and then we went shopping at a vintage store.  I went through rack after rack finding tons of amazing things that were way too high maintenance for little old me (i.e. required dry cleaning and/or ironing), but happily, I did find a few must-haves.  At one point we were chatting it up with one of the owners and she mentioned that they're getting stuff from the 80s and earlier because they are a "vintage" store, after all.

Um...80s, eh?  So the clothes I wore in high school are now considered "vintage"?  What?  And then I looked at my mom and thought, "No, clothes from when she was in high school are 'vintage'.  That's how it's always been."  But I kept my pursed "vintage" mouth shut and figured that, hey, I've got some stuff in my closet that's officially worth something.

Looking for Inspiration

OK, full disclosure here.  Sometimes I get stumped.  I get stuck.  I can't think of one single thing to write about.  So of course I go into begging mode.

Me:  "Do something funny that I can write about in my blog."

Dave:  "I think you have to just let those things happen on their own."

Me:  sigh

Me:  "Do something funny that I can write about in my blog."

Big guy:  "Why would I do something like that on purpose?"

Me:  "Ugh!"

Me:  "Do something funny that I can write about in my blog."

Kitten:   passes gas

Thank goodness there's someone in my house willing to help me out!
