Our Girl

It's been about a month-and-a-half since our girl, Scout, died. Dave has taken so many amazing photographs of this amazing furry friend of ours and I felt it was time to paint one of them. As is my practice, I always take my paintings to a full length mirror we have, stand while holding them in front of me, and look at them. You would not believe how many things I see in the reflection that I want to fix that I had not even noticed when I looked at it straight on.

Well, when I took this painting to the mirror today I gasped and had myself a bit of a cry. I think I got this one right. We love and miss you, Scout.

Farewell to our Friend

We said farewell to our dear friend, Scout, today.

Thanks for all the love, the walks, the kisses, for keeping us safe from the evil mailman, for always being there through our sadness and joy, for being the best listener ever, for being our friend. What a wonderful thirteen years it has been.

Blissful travels, girl...we love you.

Keeping Close

My sweet old lady dog, Scout...

I took her to the vet today for a bit of blood work to make sure she could continue taking her incontinence meds (old lady dog problems). As we sat in the waiting room, she to my left looking away, she kept scooching backward, inch by inch. I found myself moving to the next chair down the line three times as she scooch, scooch, scooched.

My precious girl, keeping close to her mama. Love....
